Large covered end porches serve as informal meeting spaces that promote user interaction with the outdoor summer expereince and tie the buildings' circulation to the overall pedestrian network of the campus.
Exterior materials and colors are employed that compliment and blend into the natural wooded context of the site.
The architectural forms and details of these dormitories
are inspired by, distilled from,
or make reference to relevant regional vernacular archetypes (barns, farmhouses, "Maine camps") in order to respond
to and be sensitive to the
informal traditional character
of the existing architecture
of the campus.
